Cheese —The market shows improvement —Canadian white SBs to 90s; coloured samples 88s to 90s; English Cheddar, market steady, 102 s to 106 s; N.Z.: market closed firm at an advance, white and coloured 88s to 90s and up to 925; States flats, white, 85s to 86b.

Hemp—Market quiet, but moderate business doing: good fair N.Z. £4B 10s, fair £47, Government graded fair Manila £sl, coarse £47; July-Septem-ber shipment, good fair N.Z., £47 10s fair £46 10s, Government graded fair Manila £49, coarse £46; output of •hemp at Manila for the week ending last Saturday 25,000 bales.

Wheat —Cargoes neglected, quotations nominal, but holders not anxious to sell —Canadian afloat 535., AugustSeptember 525. Oats—Market quiet, Argentine an lived 30s 6d. Wool —Merino market advanced — fine crossbreds, all grades, market is quiet but firm; medium and coarse crossbreds all grades are Jd lower. BOARD REDUCING PRICES. WHEAT 4/- A BUSHEL. MELBOURNE, This Day, Material reductions in the price of grain will probably be announced by the Wheat Board during the current week. It is understood that circumstances have arisen, which must shortly bring, about a general reduction in the.price of wheat, while an almost immediate fall in the price for local use is practically certain.
