The official account of Lieutenant’s Marchal’s flight across Germany states' that he left Nancy in a special monoplane at 9.30 in the evening on June 20th with petrol for 14 hours’ flight. His mission was to traverse, at a low altitude, and dnop proclamations in Berlin, then land in Russia. He flew 1 all night and alighted at Cholm owing to some defect. The proclamations dropped in Berlin stated: “We could bombard your city, and kill women and children, but we .content ourselves by dropping this proclamation.'” Marchal is interned 1 at 1 Salzerbach N
