LAND SETTLEMENT.
To the Editor. Sir, —If you refer to your issue of May 6th, 1915, you will find a few notes of :mt. having reference la closer settlement between Hiwera and Taihape. I know Quite well what ypur Taihape Chamber of Commerce has done in the matter, and with much regret I note that Ranger Craig -has reported unfavourably. I cannot believe Mr Editor, that Mr Craig has seen the land that the Chamber of Commerce and I had in our minds. If. Mr Craig has, then either he or I don't know; anything about land. One pi the moat,.. practical and successful farmers tjf. Canterbury, whose opinion is very highly valued even by Mr Massey, spent a few .hours with me quite recently. To him I pointed out this particular land under review, and his idea was, that it is an ideal spot where quite 200 settlers could be comfortably, placed. My friend would have a few: hours to spare on his way home, and, I asked him to call a»d see Mr Massey and explain to trie Premier exactly. ' what the land is, etc., etc. —In haste r yours, etc., FRED. OVERTON.-
