GERMANS’ GLOOMY FOREBODINGS.

AMSTERDAM, July 18. The Cologne correspondent of “Debeod" says: On all sides it is becoming apparent that not a single German aim will be achieved. The military operations on the West front are severely particularly the death march towards Verdun. The Crown Prince is openly accused of having made a useless accumulation of troops, impeding a victorious offensive on another front. Officers prisonered on the West front admit that the Germans above all fear English and French offensives at fresh points on the front for which they have insufficient reserves. They say every man in Kitchener’s armiesseems to be a sharpshooter with courage equal to the best trained soldiers. Trones Wood is a vast German graveyard. More were sacrificed there than at any point during the retreat.
