EXPERT OPINIONS.

GERMANS !N BAD POSITION.

Received July IS, 10.30 p.m. LONDON, July 17

Experts opine that now that Baz-entin-le-Petit and Longueval are taken, the German organisation in the valley of the Ancre is doomed. French critics point out that even the Kaiser's presence on the Somme, with speeches, iron crosses and advice to generals, failed to check the Anglo-French offensive. Experts expected Sir Douglas Haig's surprise attack on the first lines would be successful. They are now delighted to find that the attack on the second positions, which were under-rated by the enemy (who have been heavily reinforced) was also brilliantly successful.
