SILVEE SUBSTITUTE. Sergeant P. J. Kennedy', of the ordlj Battalion, Duk e of Welington ‘s ment, had his right car blown off at Suvla Bay, and it has been replaced by a silver ear, which he is now comfortably' wearing The truth of the story is vouched for by' Private E. Kennedy, of the 7th Battalion Infantry', who is now at the military' rest camp at Macleod. “While in the hospital,” he writes“my brother had a new ear made. A quantity of skin was taken from his thigh and set -on a silver frame. This operation was highly successful. While he was in the Metropolitan Hospital jin Kingland Eoad, London, the King and Qneen visited him, and was greatly' interested in his case. “My r brother, travelled from the Island of Juan Fernandez (supposed to .be the homo of Eobinson Crusoe) to 1 enlist Ho was on the island, which lis to the west of Chili, when Admiral * von Spec’s squadron used it as a naval base, and he and his companions were forced to remain until the Germans were destroyed. After I got through the landing at Gallipoli I was wounded, and my brother and I met in hos-*. pital in England, not having seen# each other for five years. It was a mu-* tual surprise, as neither knew that the other had enlisted.
