(Received 8.4.5 a.m.) * PARIS Th 0 'Petit Parisian' states that after a bombardment of great intensity on Thursday, British infantry assailed the German second system of defence' along almost the entire line The fighting was most fierce on both sides. The British seized trendies at several points, and the capture of howitzers indicates that fighting went to a good depth, inasmuch as howitzers are not found in finst line trenches. Sir Douglas Haig broke into four miles of front and captured several strongly defended localities.

ARTILLERY DUEL AT SOUVILLE.
(Received July 15, 1040 a.m.) NEW YORK, July 14. It is reported that the British have captured Bazentin and Lepetin. A communique states that mitrailleuse fire stopped two enemy attacks north of the Aisne, in the region of Ville Dubois, on the Vauclerc plateau. The active artillery struggle is continuous in the Souville sector, and patrol engagements are taking place in Chencis Wood.
