Since my last cable message .one 4, of'the most successful raids "was made by tour officers and seventy-seven 'men of the Ist New Zealand Infanfcrv Brigade. After a heavy bombardment the raiders reached the German f i-encli, and remained in it for eight minutes. They killed fifteen Germans and brought back ten prisoners and considerable bootv. Our casualties were sHeht. Captain McColl. the load?,- of the raid was mortally Avounded while gallantly assisting his men. He bad got safely back to bis own trench, but returned to help the stretcher-boar.ers in No Man's Land. Another party from the 2nd Brigade wore not so successful in their raid. Lieutenant K. Munro was killed with shrapnel before the bombardment lifted. The portion of trench entered eontaned no Germans.
