BATTLE INCIDENTS.
Received July 13, 8.30 p.m. (The Times.) 1 LONDON, July 12. A correspondent, describing incidents at Contalmaison fight,: says a Northumberland Fusilier who was sent back with a message was mortally wounded. He struggled on till he reached an advanced post and had only enough strength left to point to his tunic and say, “It’s in.” Then he died. ...g ■■> A lieutenant of , the Yorkshires, wounded twice, after twelve hours managed ,to crawl back in the darkness. En route he found two unbounded Germans hiding in a shellhole. He brought them in as prisoners with the help of a revolver. It now proved that German ma-chine-gunners were tied to their guns. One was discovered fastened by straps on the insteps to staples driven in the ground. A chain round the waist also fastened him.
