DEFEAT GERMANS IN AFRICA
(Received 9 a.m.) PARIS, July 12 It is announced by the Belgian authorities at Havre that Germans have been expelled from the provinces of Ruanda and Urundi, and have abandoned the province of Bukobe The Belgians inflicted severe defeat on the Germans at Biaramulo. The Belgian front now extends from Lake Tanganyika, to Lake Victoria Kyanza, over a district which has a-native population of four millions. IN RECAPTURING CONTALMAISON TWENTY-THIRD VILLAGE TAKEN. (Received July 13, 11.25 a.m.) PARIS, July 12. The French Press is aying magnificent tribute to the courage of the British in recapturing Gonstalmaison. It is noted that this is the twenty-third village wrested from, the invader since the beginning of the Somme offensive. ADOPTS ECONOMIC CONFERENCE RESOLUTION. (Received July 13, 11.25 a.m.) LONDON, July 12. Mr Asquith, in the House of Commons, said the Government had adopted the resolution carried at the Economic Conference; also the prolongation of Parliament and the appointment of an independent committee to investigate the franchise.
