HUNGARIANS’ TERRIBLE LOSSES.
BITTER RAILING AGAINST AUSTRIANS. DEGRADATION OF LEADERS URGED. v Received 7-10 p.m., July 10.
LONDON, July 9
The ‘Morning Post’s” Baida Pest correspondent says that at the Hungarian Parliament session members were present who had been on the Russian and Italian fronts during the offensive. They agree that the Aus-tro-Hungarian losses in six weeks were at least 600,0i00, of which 100.000 were disabled owing to illness due to hunger. Men dropped in huu, dreds in the forced marches during the retreat } and had to be abandoned as there was insufficient transport. Parliamentarians censure the chief of staff, General Hoctzendorf, and the Archdukes Eugene and Frederick for grossly under-estimating the Russian strength. They should have placed Mackensen in command of the Austrians when the Russian offensive proved formidable. Members hotly demand that Hoctzendorf and the Archdukes should be degraded.
