VALEDICTORY.

MR. AND MRS MITCHELL. i Last evening a social was lit-ivl in the Methodist Sunday School, to give members of the Church an opportunity of bidding farewell to Mr and Mrs F. Mitchell, who leave shortly for Karatonga. There was a large attendance, testifying to the goodwill and esteem in which both Mr and Mrs Mitchell are held. During the evening the Rev. Lester Minifie, on behalf of the various branches of the Church, made a presentation to Mr Mitchell of a set of theological works, and to Mrs Mitchell, of a salt, pepper, and mustard set in silver. In doing so" he referred to the good work which had been done by the recipients in Church work, and wished them erery success and happiness in their sphere of work. Messrs Darvill, Cuninghame. and Lambert also spoke in eulogistic terms of the guests, who suitably responded. During the evening songs were resdered by Mrs Durand, Miss Jones, Mrs Williams, and Mrs Mitchell; Mr and Mrs Mitchell sang a duet; the Rev L. Minifie gave a recitation, and Mr J. Murray told some humorous stories. The feeling exhibited testified to the high estimation in which Mr and Mrs Mitchell were held.
