INTERNED GERMAN CONSUL

AIEDICAL REPORTS ON CASE

WELLINGTON, July 4

The nisedical reports regarding Carl Seegner, ex-German consul at Auckland, who was lately allowed to leave Motuihi, were tabled to-day by the Alinister of Defence.

Colonel Talbot, reporting on April 15, stated: —“Carl Seegner is rather a frail old man who suffers from diabetes. He is 69 years of age. His health nas become rather worse since he has been interned at Alotnihi Island. There is always the possibility that he may become seriously, ilk owing to mental anxiety and change of diet acting on diabetes, and causing diabetic coma. In my opinion it is advisable to send him back to his home, where he could be kept under guard or surveillance if necessary. On April 27, Colonel Talliot reported:—“Carl Seegner’s health has changed for the worse of late. Ho fainted a few days ago and is becoming more feeble. I recommend that he be removed from Alotnihi and sent to his own home, as I fear his life will be endangered by' longer residence on the island. On May 25, Surgeon-General Henderson reported:—“l consider Jiat Carl Seegner should be returned to his own home as soon as possible, as from Colonel Talbot s’ certificate he may die if left where lie is.”
