WANGANUI WOOL, HIDES,

Our June sale took place on Thursday, 29th June, when the following catalogue was submitted to a large attendance of buyers :—307 bales and 205 bags of wool, 2455 sheepskins, 492 hides and calfskins, 4 casks and U2 tins of tallow, also horse hair, cowtails, etc. Competition all round was keen, especially 0 for tallow and clean wool. We report as follows: — AVool.—Our offering was an unusually large one for this market, and apart from usual oddments, comprised nearly 200 bales of crutchings. Competition was confined to representatives of firms having Japanese orders for crutchings and although a considerable portion of the catalogue was' withdrawn under the hammer, satisfactory sales were made afterwards privately. We quote:—Crossbred fleece lOd to 14d lb; seedy fleece B£d to 12d lb; very seedy, 5d to 6d lb; lambs 10}d to 143 d lb; seedy lambs 5Jd to Sid lb; dead wool to lb; black 10Jd; crutchings, no super offered; good clean bright madie from 12d to 123 d lb; medium from lid to lfd lb; heavy condtioned and slightly seedy, lOd toll-id; inferior and very seedy, 6d to 9Jd lb: locks 5d to 7id lb; pieces Oid to 8-Jd lb ; stained locks and pieces 3d to sd. Sheepskins.—r]-wools to i to i-wools, B;}d to lid; dead to 9d lb; woolly lambs to lid; shorn lambs Bid, pelts 7d, lambs' pelts woolly pelts SJd, damaged pelts 3d, damaged damp i to | wools, 2s 6d to 4s 7d each, Halted i to ft wools 4s Gd to 7s each. Hides.—Heavy ox 11 Ad to 12d per lb; medium ox ll£d, light ox 10'd : cow to lOd per lb, bulls to 7Jd per ib"; horse 8s 9d to 9s Gd each; yearlings 9£d lb; weavers 9.kl lb; calf to lid lb. Tallow.—ln casks £29 10s to £3O per ton. Tins 28s Gd per cwt. Horse hair, Is Id lb: cowtails Is per doa. Next sale will be held on 27th July, 1916. Produce should reach us by 21st July. STOCK REPORT. At Palincrston North on Thursday we had a good yarding of both sheep and cattle, which sold readily at lata rates. —Mixed b.f. lambs 17s; fat and fwd. b.f. lambs ISs lid: empty ewes 19s lid; light ewes 13s Gd; aged ewes iu lamb 21 s; prime fat ewes 30s 3d: 2-th ewes and wethers (small) 27s 3d; Ac.
