AMUSEMENTS.

To-night should be a “red letter’’ night in this town. As advertised, Clement Wragge, the well-known astronomer and scientist, will present ills new and startling masterpiece, “The Eternal Universe and the War.” This great address, magnificently pictured throughout, lifts the mind, in positive relief, from brooding over the awful events now taking place in Europe to the uttermost depths of the “Great Beyond,” while yet describing the inner reasons that have brought about, the war. On no account should it bo missed. It is not every day that such au opportunity occurs in our midst, and it should be fully availed of. Enormous and delighted audiences have listened in rapt attention to the Professor in the cities, and he will also speak of . coming seasons and exhibit the latest specimens of wonderful radium, and perform experiments witli the ether rays travelling at 186,000 miles per second. Professor Wragge has arranged to give a second grand scientific entertainment on “The Majesty of Creation,” to-morrow ((Saturday), and he will appear at Mataroa on Monday. Patrons may be quite sure of a unique treat, and at Mataroa we feel sure his, splendidly illustrated lecture will be especially appreciated. Particulars are advertised.

THREE STARS THEATRE. To-night the much-talked-of picture, “My Old Dutch,” will be shown. When such popular actors as Albert Chevalier is to appear on, the screen there is no need to enlarge on this production; the name is quite sufficient to ensure a good evening’s amusement. There are also Florence Turner and Harry Brett, who take leading parts, besides a host of British star actors and actresses. The picture in every part of New Zealand has had packed houses. At the Octagon Theatre, Auckland, the doors had to be closed at 8 o’clock, by order of the theatre inspectors, as there was not standing room, and we would not be surprised if the same occurred here to-night and to-morrow night. The 17th episode of the Million Dollar Mystery will also bo shown, truly a double star programme, and one that is not shown in the largo cities of New Zealand.
