THE NORTHERN TERRITORY.

A DISQUIETING REPORT. Received 10-50 p.m., June 28. MELBOURNE, June 2rß. Mr. Boys, late manager of the Daly River? demonstration farm, in the Northern Territory, has returned to Vicotria. He states that he resigned the managership on account o! the attitude of the Administrator (Dr„ jJ 5 A. Gilruth), and of, in his tfte utter hopelessness of settlement ever being in the least degree a success. He declares that most of the settlers -were induced there by the roseate prospects conjured by the Administrator. They have already abandoned their holdings, leaving stock, implements and houses, to'avoid complete ruin. Recently Dr Gilruth reported that things were going well at Batchelor Farm, whereas the manager reported that things were very bad. Mr. Boys considers Daly River will never he a successful dairying settlement. Therefore it is very unfair to induce settlers to go there.
