A MOST SUCCESSFUL AERIAL RAID.

ENERSY SUSTAINS BIG LOSS. GREAT WORK BY AVIATORS. The High Commissioner reports - In Egypt a most successful *«Tl>plane raid was carried out yesterday l>y the British against a large enemy aerodrome five miles south of El Arith and a hundred miles from our nearest aerodrome.

The position of the enemy aerodrome, consisting of ten large hangars, was found on June 13th, a strong raid by 11 machines being immediately planned. Two hangars were flrea and com

pletely destroyed, while four were bombed many times.

The enemy camp and rrops were also assailed. We lost two machines. Or<o was. forced to descend two miles north of the aerodrome. The other fell into the sea. The pilot was rescued by r. motor-boaT. A third was compelled to land eight miles \vest of El Arish.

The pilot was detected by one of our escorting machines which immediately landed at a considerable risk and picked him up, flying back 90 miles to El Kantara, carrying two passengers in addition to the pilot. The general commanding highly praised the feat.
