TREMENDOUS POUNDING.

Received 9-10 p.m., June 21. PARIS, June 21

The "Bulletin Des Amies" says that at one time over a hundred' German batteries pounded Hill 30b and the immediate surroundings. The summit was transformed into a volcano, columns of smoke ascending in such density that aviators declared that the atmosphere at 800 metres was as dense as on the ground. The trenches were entirely riddled, and the ' occupants refuged in the shell holes. Notwithstanding the fearful bombardment and the launching of 12 twelve different attacks in a week the Germans were unable to carry the position.
