TAIHAPE BOROUGH COUNCIL

MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the TaihapsBorough Council was held 6n Friday evening, there being present His; Worship the Mayor (Mr A. L Amrwsmitti > and Crs H D. Bennett, G Wrightson, F. W. Somerville, J. R. Cunninghome, A. J, Joblin, and J G. Turnbull A letter was received from Mrs M. A. v Vickers, asking the - council to hold over the question of the drainage of her houses in Tui Street in the mean--time, and on the recommendation of the Works Committee the letter was red to the Health Inspector. * FOREMAN’S REPOHT, The Acting Foreman (Mr D. Earby) submitted the following report:,:— have th e honour to report that during the past month the Borough workmen have been engaged in reforming Birch road and cleaning out the water tables; also in repairing Rum road.’* Th e report was adopted on the recommendation of the Works Committee. TREASURER 'S REPOR T. The Treasurer (Mr W. D. Dinuison) reported that (he balances of the various accounts stood as follows-District Fund account, dr. £2,781 Is 10d; Interest aeount, cr £B9 5s Sd: Temporary Loans account, dr. £140; Lear, account No. 1, dr. £670 18s: Loan account No. 3, dr. £197 Os sd; Oal Domain account, cr. £35 Is Sd.

TOWN HALL AND DESERVES The Town Hall,and Reserves Committee submitted the following report: “Your Committee has to report having met this day and recommends *9 follows in regard to the letter from We Secretary of the Taihape Municipal Brass Bat'd, received at last meeting of the Council: 1. That permission be grant od the Band to enlarge the band-room to the extent of 9 or 10 feet, and erect a chimney at the back of tin- building, the Council to subsidise the Band for such work to the amount- of tl). 2. That the . question of annual subsidy be deferred pending a conference between repreentarivos of the Council and the Band.” The recommendation was adopted.
