A serious fracas occurred in Palme*? ston Xortli on Saturday night, when a Chinaman named Joe Pye is alleged to have assaulted a maTi named Peter Neilson, by striking him over the head with, a, bottle. It is asserted that the man attempted to gain admittance to a house which was occupied by the Chinaman and a white woman. The Chinaman resented the. attempted intrusion, and followed this up by using a bottle with such good effect that Xeilson suffered a very severe fracture of the skull, and was removed to the hospital in a serious Monday, and was remanded on a charge of assault and causing actual bodily harm.
