A NOBLE CAUSE.
(To the Editor). Sir. —Allow m e to use your columns —which I know are always available for a good cause —to make yet another appeal to the generosity and patriotism of the public of this district; this time on behalf of t-he dependants of the sailors of the Navy, who have lost their lives during the war. I feel that this object must appeal strongly to the residents of the Dominion, for it will be readily admitted by all, that but for the Navy, no Britisher would be in the enjoyment of landed and
other property in New Zealand. While aware of the many calls on the Dominion, I am also certain that its extraordinary prosperity at the present time, warrants the belief that the fufid raised for this object will be a credit to the Dominion and that this district will, as heretofore, maintain its name for liberality in the relief of suffering and distress. Similar appeals are being made throughout the Dominion and th|s appeal is made with the consent and under auspices
of the Taihape and District Patriotic Society. Donations forwarded to me will be duly acknowledged in the Taihape Daily Times. A. L. ARROWSMITH, Mayor of Taihape.
