TAIHAPE PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE.
A meeting of the Taihape Patriotic Committee was held last evening when there were present His Worship the Mayor (Mr. A. L. Arrowsmith) and Messrs D. Neagle, S. Powell, Father Connelly, G. Bray and G. Wrightson. J A long letter with regard to iteration of the Patriotic Societies was received from Messrs Tripp and Hope Gibbons, members of the Advisory Board and a further letter was received from Mr. Hope Gibbons stating: that possibly a meeting would be held at Marton, and each patriotic committee between Palmerston and "Wanganui would be asked to send a delegate. ' / The chairman stated that federation was more likely to take shape at the meeting at Marton than by any other way. It would be very little use sending a delegate unless he had power to bind the Society and the meeting now should decide so that they could instruct the delegate how to vote. Mr. James stated they had hoped to get Mr. Hope Gibbons to attend a meeting of the local committee so they cculd get some idea of the scheme. He thought they should have a meeting of delegates but he thought their delegate should report before any definite decision was arrived at. | Seme discussion followed andfeventually on the motion of the chairman it was resolved to inform Mr. Hope Gibbons that if a meeting was called at Marton. the committee would send! a delegate. !
