MOAWHANGO COLLIE TRIALS
SOME MAGNIFICENT TROPHIES
There is exhibited in Mr Stanley Peyton's shop window to-day the finest display of trophies as prizesxzficnifwy display of trophies that, probably, has ever been seen in Taihape, as prizes ( for, any local or district competitions. j Those beautiful specimens of silver- ! smiths' art have all been contributed to encourage the breeding and training jof sheep dogs. To watch a well-trained dog working sheep reveals a sagacity ; closely fringing on intelligence. It is j marvellous to see dogs receive and carry j out instructions in a way that would put many human beings to shame. A good. dog is as careful and apparently kind as any human being could of his charge, and it is this wonderful sagacity that invokes the admiration and wonder of. the public generally, and renders the sheep dog a treasure to all sheepowners. It is therefore not a matter for surprisethat such costly and beautiful trophies should be given for the cleverest and most careful dogs. The array of char*, pionship trophies, which are to be competed for at the meeting at Moawhanga, on next Wednesday, Thursday and. Friday, of the North Island Sheep-Dog Trial Association, is a supreme testimony to the value of the dog, and the interest sheepmen and a certain section, of the public take in its training. The trophies are as follows:
