SALE OF PAINTINGS.
A really fine opportunity will be given to art lovers of viewing and, we hope, purchasing some very fine examples in oil and pastel from the easel of Mr. J. Douglas Perrett, the well known artist, now on a visit from Auckland, who has placed in the hands of D. J. McLennan a small but select collection of his paintings for sale by Auction to-morrow (Saturday), at 3 p.m. As New. Zealand is a country where Natur e has scattered her gifts lavishly, and therefore given many opportunities to the skilful artist to observe and transfer to permanent vision those beautiful effects of sunshine and shade which vanish and fade even while we watch. Such an artist is Mr. Douglas Perrett, who has chosen scenes remarkable for their beauty which cannot fail to arouse admiration. An invitation is extended to all interested to view the pictures prior to the sale at the room adjoining the Mart, Tui street. For the convenience of the public they will be on view this evening from 7 till 9. Mr. Perrett cannot remain in Taihape as he is due at Hamilton where he is to judge, all the art sections at the Hamilton show.
