FIRST EXCHANGE OF PRISONERS WITH GERMANY.
SPECIAL ARRANGEMENTS MADE FOR THE BRITISH. MORE BREAD AT ONE MEAL IN SWITZERLAND THAN THEY GET IN A WEEK IN GERMANY. (Reed. 8.55 a.m.). BERNE, May 23. Most complete arrangements are being made for the reception of the first B’ritisli prisoners from Germany. Those requiring exceptional treatment will be accommodated two or three in a room and will receive Swiss soldiers diet, which includes coffee, bread, cheese, butter, jam, soup, meat and vegetables. Tire allowance of bread with each meal exceeds the whole daily allowance made in Germany. The local British committees are supplying the men with underclothing, handkerchiefs, slippers, and toilet requisites, and a special committee of British ladies is undertaking their washing and mending.
