The following members were ■ present:—Messrs McCormick (chair), j Neagle, Robinson, Timbs, Gardner, I Cunninghame. Darvill (secretary). | The King’s Birthday, June 3rd. fall- | mg on Saturday, it was decided to ! observe the -holiday on Monday the ! sth, on which date shops will be clos- : ed all day, and they will remain open : all day on the following Thursday, Bth j June. The Secretary was asked to canvas : members and ask them to vote on the : three following issues: - at 5.30 during June, July and August; j (2) closing at 5.30 on Saturdays duri iug June, July, and August; (3) closj iug at 12 nocu on Thursdays throughI out the year. So far the result of the i canvas is unanimously in favour of the i three suggestions being adopted, a. few ■ members arc away from Taihape and" i their votes have yet to be obtained.
