A MIRACULOUS ESCAPE.
FROM A SUDDEN DEATH-
A MOTOR CAR ACCIDENTA miraculous escape from what looked like certain death occurrediou the Winiata Road about 4 o'clock, when a nwi-f car ran full tilt into a little fellow, 0 years old. the son of Mrs. Sparks, of Taihape. The boy was with his mother on a rise just off the road, when he stated to run down the hill, and he had just reached the. highway as a motor car, owned by Mr. D. Addis struck him full in the face, knocking him down, and passing ever without doing any further injury. The driver of the car immediately pulled up and took the boy to Dr. McDiarmid who found him to have sustained a fractured jaw and that he was suffering from concussion. It is questionable whether there was any possibility of the driver cf the car avoiding the accident. as. in his running down the hill, the lad hap seen a motor cycle coming from the opposite direction from the motor car. and in his trying to avoid that he ran right in front of the car which he did not see or know to present. Dr. McDiarmid set the fractured jaw and did all thatjpAild be done to make pain as as possible. Late last night concussion, seemed to be passing off, as great pain wa s growingly evident. This morning there is apparently great improvement in the lad's condition generally, After the boy was struck bleed flowed freely from nose and mouth, but that was soon quite stopped, and he now seems to be in a fair way to a rapid recovery.
