HERO OF A BOOK.
LIP2 OF fcttOJlKS. Messrs C. Arthur Pearson, Ltd., have issued a shilling book, entit'< n, W. M. Hughe,s, the Strong Ma:i of Australia, which is widely displayed on the city bookstalls to-day. The author is Mr Stanh.ipe Spriggs, and he o-ives a racy and appreciative account of Mr Hughe's life. He tells numerous Australian stories cf the Common wealeh Prime Minister and declares that Mr Hughes is one of the great and brilliant characters of the age. "His career," s«ys the :nithor, '-'has been like a romance which seems impossible to a sober-minded, practical Englishmen. " Mr Spriggs ascribes Mr Hughes's success partly to the Australian worker's passion for politics. ''Tin Australian wolrker," he proceeds, 'Tends, studies, and lovpg political speeches, The English worker fails t:• understand them."
