CAPTURED BY GERMANS.
o— RELEASED SHIP AT SYDNEY.
Since the American snip Dunsyre left Australia on her last outward voyage she has made several eventful passages between continental ports.
After, having discharged at Ran Francisco the Dunsyre loaded tor Stockholm, but did not reach her destination.
Captain Smith, master :v the vessel, said on his arrival at Sydney last week that as soon as the s ailer enteral the Baltic she was held up by five German destroyers and the Admiral boaivded her, authorising his men lo make a thorough search for contraband, but nothing was found. Though the cargo wa? declare! to be clear, the Dunsyre was towed 'nlo Swinemunde, and unloaded, the Germans saying that they must have the lot, because foodstuff was urgently needed.. They ptid the full price for the shipment, and also the ost of diecharging. That was gladly done, because, it is said, the Dunsyre's eair?o was just what was wanted. After the unloading had b-3en completed tinGermans kept the ship in port f™ over six weeks, and then sent her away in ballast. Just before setting out again it was learned that the Germans of the opinion, that the vessel wa.s bound to Russia. The Dunsyre is not the only ship that met with such a fate, all neutral steamers, particularly those carrying oil through the Baltic, being subject fo.a (dose examination. Owing to the mining of the whole of the Danish coast and the extinction < f all lights on the way to Sweden only a narrow channel is left for the use of mairiners, and that is how the Germans catch so many unsuspecting freighters. The enemy knows just what course a vessel will take, and acts accordingly. Wen the Dunsyne was sailing from Texa for Australia she collided with an oil steamer, and both.vesselj were damaged. The ship was delayed for ten days for (repairs, and Hie oil steamer longer than that.
