GERMAN AMERICAN BOAST.

Statements likely to prejudice the recruiting, training, discipline and administration of His Majesty's forces were alleged against an American named George Cleveland Gunter, who was brought before Sheriff Mackenzie in Glasgow Sheriff Summary Court on a charge of contravening the Defence of the Realm Act. According to the indictment, accused stated in a hotel at Glasgow, on February 19, that the United States are lying low at present and making money from the war; that the United States would go to Germany's assistance, and when they had beaten Great Britain the United States would beat Germany and capture all; that he was proud of being of German descent, and that he would not be in the British Army; that the British soldiers were a damned set of curs and cowards, that he would return to the United States and join the German army, and return here and blow the heads off the British; and that, soldiers who wear the kilt were a lot of women, and no good. Accused said he was drunk at the time, and did not know what he was saying. Asked to plead guilty or not guilty, the accused remarked, "I guess I could not deny it."

The Sheriff said he could not ace.opt that as a plea of guilty, and fixed March 7 as the date of trial.
