TAIHAPE PATIOTIC COMMITTEE.
A meeting of the Taihape Patriotic Committee wa held last evening, when there wer e present: His Worship the Mayor (Mr. A. L. Arrowsmith), Father Connolly, and Messrs. D. Neagle, A. James, G. Wrightson, and S. Powell.
A letter was received from the Wanganui Patriotic Committee, asking for a grant towards the Rotorua Social Boom. It was resolved to reply that as it had been reported in the Press that the money required for the purpose had been raised no grant would be mJp&4
On the motion of Mr. James, seconded by Father Connolly,: it was decided to take steps to -have the Society incorporated under the War Funds Act, 1915.
A long discussion took place in connection with the question of the Federation of Patriotic Societies, and finally it was decided to ask Mn. Hope Gibbons, one of the Advisory Board, to meet the Committee and discuss the scheme.
' A letter was received from the secretary of the War Relief Association in Wellington, pointing but a case of a wounded soldier in Mangaweka needing relief, and it was decided to point out that Mangaweka had rafsed money for patriotic purposes which it was understood had been paid to the Minister of Internal Affairs. They had refused to join in with Taihape and so the case in question did not come within the scope of the Committee.
