ENTERTAINMENTS.

“WITHIN THE LAW” COMPANY.

This popular company will appear again at Taihape at the Town .Hall on Saturday, May 6th and Monday, May Sth, presenting the latest thrilling war play, ‘The Man Who Stayed at Home.’ The main motive of “The Man Who Stayed at Horae ’ ’ is to throw into relief the characteristic British attitude of accepting all aliens personally known as good enough people generally, who are not to blame for not being born British, 'and that therefore it is “mean” to suspect that they can be enemies in the most dangerous form of unsuspected spies. Miss Hilda Dorrington and Mr. Lionel Walsh are again appearing in the leading roles, and are responsible for the parts of the lady and gentleman British Secret Service agents, Miss Dor.rington appearing as Miriam Lee and Mr. Walsh as Christopher Brent (“The Man Who Stayed at Home.’’) Some special scenery and effects are travelled this year for this play, including a complete and practical mantelpiece and fireplaces which contains a valuable wireless outfit, which cost the firm considerably over £IOO, and without which the play would be impossible, as the whole plot centres round the use of this plant, which was concealed by the German spies in the fireplace and from where they could signal waiting Gorman sub-, marines. The company are appearing for two nights only, and on Monday, May Sth. *■ ‘Get-Rich-Quick Wallingford’’ will be staged for the farewell performance. The box plans are now on view at Finch’s, where seats maybe reserved without extra charge.
