. A MAN MISSING. HIS CLOTHES AND GUN FOUND. GISBORNE, This Day. K. Gustafsen ,aged 25, a Russian Finn, second officer of the steamer Shumata, who went out shooting with two others yesterday, is missing His clothes and gun were found on the bank of the "Waimata River. Search is being made for the body. BURGLARY AT FAIRLIE. TIMARU, This Day. The Alpine town of Fairlie was raided by burglars on Saturday night and the safes at the Farmers' Co-operative Association and th e railway station, ag well as Sheeran's jewellery shop, were blown open and robbed. A storm was raging at the time. The thieves first
went to a blacksmith's shop and got tools. The doors and windows were forced and the safes blown open with gelignite. Bags of flour, sugar, and other materials were used to deaden the sound At the Farmers' Association. £l2O cash, at the railway station £4O cash, and at Sheeran 's solid gold and jewellery valued at £2OO were stole': The police have no clue yet. Th e opening of the safes was evidently . don by experts.
