A man named William Gunn appeared at the Taihape Court this morning for obtaining £1 13/- in cash and board to value of 7/- from Mr. W. McLennan, of the Gretna Hotel, by false pretences, to wit, a bill of exchange on Furness and Co., Auckland. The presiding justices Messr M. M. Carpenter and A. Nathan sentenced defendant to three months’ imprisonment in Auckland gaol and ordered that the £2 be refunded to Mr. McLennan. On a further charge of false pretences at Drury he was remanded to appear at Auckland on the 28th instant.
