WEDDING AT RANGATAUA.

A POPULAR FUNCTION. A pretty little weding was solemnised on Easter Monday at Rangataua, by the Rev. (W. T. Weller, of Ohakune. The contracting parties were Frederick, the eldest son of Thomas Hirst, of Norsewood, Hawke’s Bay, and Augusta, the eldest daughter of Thomas Cleave Hawken of Rangataua, and late of Port Quin, North Cornwall, England. The service was fully choral. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked very charming, in a dress of ivory crepe de chine, bridal veil and orange blossoms, and carrying a lovely bouquet of chrysanthemums and maiden hair fern. Her only jewellery was a gold bangle and pendant, the gift of the bridegroom. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Emily Hawken, and Miss Dorathea Hirst, sister of the bride-, groom. They wore dresses of cornflower blue crepe silk, and white embroidered voile and black picture hats, and carried bouquets of chrysanthemums and marguerites, each wearing an amethyst pendant and earrings, the gift of the bridegroom. Mr. Janies McGavern, of Hunterville, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, acted as best man.

After the ceremony a. reception was held at Perhams, by Mrs. Hambly, sister of the bride. The usual toasts were enthusiastically honoured. The presents were costly and numerous. The happy couple afterwards left for the north, where the honeymoon will be spent. The bride’s travelling costume was of light grey with hat to match.
