A CHANGING FEAST.
(To the Editor). .Sir, —With reference to the enclosed cutting from your issue of Monday. You point out that Easter fell on March 22nd in 1817 and that it would happen again in 1990. I make out, Sir., that Easter Sunday fell on April 6th in 1817, Also that in 1990 it will fall on April 15th. Again, I make out that Easter Sunday fell only onc c in fie 19th century on March 22nd, viz., in 1818, and that it will not happen at all in this century. "Who is at fault? Your authority or mine?—l am,, etc.. JAMES GAEDINEE, Railway Buffet, Taihapo. April 18, 19K5.
[We really hav 'nt the time to make ourselves quite sure whether Easter Sunday falls, in any particular year or century, en Sunday or Wednesday even, let alone to dig out precise dates. We are quite content to accept the duly accredited statistic, fiend's word for what wo publish about such things. Our correspondent s may be right and the statistician wrong. Anyway, we do not feel disposed to go groping about in past centuries in chase of an elusive Easter. —Ed.]
