AN AMERICAN'S OPINION.

A young American, now in the British Army at the front, writes: "This Avar is worse than hell let loose ever could be. I have roughed it ever since I set foot on French soil, and expect to go on roughing it, but, take it from me, the Germans will never lick the British. Our boys are more than plucky; they are all heroes. I do know one thing, which is absolutely true, and that is the Germans cannot and will not stand up a bayonet charge by our boys. They hate cold steel, and will run from it every time."
