KILL THE MAD TIGER.
Lieutenant-Colonel John Ward, M.P. addressing a meeting at Nottingham, presided over by Lord Henry Bentincfc M.P., in support of the cadet movement, said he was opposed to war anto militarism as practised on the Continent, believing that England would never adopt such a system. Someone might ask why, then, was he a soldier? His answer, was,, "You cannot moralise with a mad tiger or alligator. The only thing a sensible man could do was to give it a blow on the head, and the harder the better." It was impossible for either side to give way now, for there could be no compromise of the principle involved in this war. ..
