A OHRISTCHURcILThis Djf' A warrant has been for the arrest of an employee of the City Council, named William Francis Bert Dunn, charged that, during the* last few days he did receive the sum of £9-10 and failed to account to the Council. He has been missing since Tuesday afternoon. He got off to arrange affairs to leave with the 15th Reinforcements on Wednesday, but he did not parade and does not appear to have enlisted. The- city does not stand to lose, being protected by a fidelity guarantee. Friday was the last day of the Council's financial year and heavy sums were received as rates, and the amount short was banked.

The City Council has carried, unanimously, a resolution urging the Government to immediately bring in Conscription in any form suitable to Beet the requirements of the Dominion in the present crisis. Mathieson, on the hospital ship Mara ma had his leg smashed, an<J that the limb was amputated. The un* fortunate victim is reported to be doing well. Any person knowing - the' address of this man's next of kin isrequested to notify the same to Records Office, Wellington.
OUT OF THE BUSH;. RITA AND HIS CAPTORSTHE WOUNDED CON3TABEES'.. PEPPERED WITH SHOT.. MURUPARA, Thursday/Dr. Brewster and four wounded constables have just arrived by motor-car. They rode through 25 miles of bush, putting up record time. They will proceed to Rotorua this afternoon. The Hon. A. L. Herdman and Police Commissioner Cullen remain, at Ruatahuna till to-morrow. Rua and his son, handcuffed together, had to walk through the bus|| to Ruatahuna, much to their disJßst. Rua and his son and the other, prisoners are coming here from Ruatahuna in brakes, and will not arrive till this evening. They will proceed to Rotorua to-morrow.
Constable Neil has 48 pellets to be removed, and Constable Ebbett has 38 to be removed. Sergeant Aden, late of the hospital ship Maheno, is in charge of the ambulance. WOUNDED MEN INTERVIEWED/ A PERILOUS EXPEDITION. The 'wounded men were all of the opinion that the Maoris, had they liked to take the opportunity, could have 'picked off the entire expedition, the Maoris being under cover of the thicE bush. The constable who felled & Maori with his baton had to hit hint twice and the second time the batoiS split. The two natives who were fatally; shot were buried together on Monday* near the pa, with all their belongings* including their portmanteaux. There was no tangi. ~ The wounded men left here in golfe spirits at 1.10, and should reach Ro|p rua by 5.30 this evening. ' On Tuesday two of the motor-car? drivers had to proceed to Rua's cam© via a bridle track, with an important despatch for the Commissioner off Police. After walking from 1 o'clock till 5 they came upon a Maori pa, and! discovered it was not Rua's, but a pa only two and a-half miles from Baillie's store, at Ruatahuna, to whichi they returned.
RUA'S LONG MARCH. [ MORE MAORIS WOUNDED. ! Rua will be marched through fromWhakarewarewa to Rotorua. He will remain here till 10 o'clock to-night. There are some more wounded natives in the bush. Another Maori in the name of Paoral Kingi came in from the bush with two bullet wounds through each shoulder and gave himself up. Commissioner Cullen addressed the natives who had assembled to see Rua off, and gave them some sound advice.
