THE TASMANIAN LIQUOR REFERENDUM. (Reed. 9.40 a.m.) HOBART, This Day. The liquor referendum was a resolute struggle between 6 and 10 o'dockers. The former scored 42,713, the latter 21,502. Others hours together tallied 3,711, whereof only 520 favoured 11 o 'cliock. THE PETROL COMMISSION. SYDNEY, April 5. The Royal Commission has commenced taking evidence in regard to the petrol allegations. According to the opening of the Crown's counsel, Morgan was represented to have said that in any installation under the scheme for nationalising the petrol industry, it would be necessary to add something between £IO,OOO and £15,000 for the Minister, and provision wou'r! also to lie made for £2,000 or £3,000 for him (Morgan).
