GERMAN’S NEW PLAN.

LONDON, April 1. Newspaper correspondents point out a novelty in regard to the German battle plan at Verdun. The use of 12-inch guns produces an impenetrable curtain of fire, thus cutting off some French detachments. One such detachment worked its sole remaining 3-inch, gun for two days, hungry, thirsty and nearly dead with fatigue. They gave up every hope of escape. The lieutenant refused a drop of water. lest there should be insufficient to clean the gun. He said: “The gun is thirstier than I.”
