FIVE ZEPPELINS RAID ENGLAND.

EASTERN AND SOUTH-EASTERN COUNTIES VISITED. LONDON, March 31. The Admiralty report that five Zeppelins raided eastern counties. The result is unknown.

ONE AIRSHIP FALLS INTO THAMES ESTUARY. LONDON, April 1. Official—A damaged Zeppelin descended in the Thames Estuary and surrendered to our patrol vessels. The Zeppelin broke and sank. : THE ZEPPELIN "DOWNED" BY GUNFIRE. LONDON, April 1. The wrecked Ll 5 was hit by gunfire while over the eastern counties. A shell struck the upper part rear of | the tail. It quick'y dropped to a ! lowed altitude well down by the tail and descended into the sea off Kent. A machine-gun, some ammunition, a petrol tank riddled with shrapnel, • and some machinery, was dropped by this vessel or another raider. The casualties reported are 28 killed and 44 injured. OFFICERS AND CREW TAKEN TO CHATHAM. LONDON, April 1. Two of the L.ls's officers and sixteen of the crew were conveyed to Chatham, also nine wounded members of the crew, the latter being sent to Chatham Hospital. The commander wore a seal-skin coat, the others ordinary naval uniforms. LONDON, April 1. The War Office reports that the raiders organised two squadrons, and a detached ship. The former made the eastern counties their objective, while the detached ship raided the north-west coast. The Zeppelins crossed at different places and times. HOW THE AIRSHIP WAS DISCOVERED. LONDON, April 1. Capt Pells, captain of the steamer Svantholm, s aw L-15 floating near Kentish Knock early in the morning. Earlier he heard heavy firing in the air and the steamer rocked violently. He described the Zeppelin as about 700 feet in length and broken in two, having been evidently often hit. A German crawled along the envelope as it lay on the water and held up his hands as a sign of surrender. When boats from the patrol ships rnwed up, the heads of others were visible throuah the manhole in the forenart of the airship. Thirty were in the stern twenty feet above the water. The airship was then floating buoyantly.
