There Avas a good at- | tendance of ladies, all of Avhom showj ed keen interest in the. play, i The teams AA r ere: —Holders: Ddrvill,. De Luen, James, Thurston (s); ’Chali lengers: Rev. Stent, Drayton, Neagle,. McKenzie (s). After the sixth head the teams Avere level and then McKenzie dreAV aAvay and on the 11th head had a lead of 6 points. Thurstonscored on the 12th 13th 14th and 15th. head, getting to within one point of McKenzie. The 16th head saAv the letter’s gccre increased by one, but Thurston scored 3 points on the 17th and 2 on the 13th making the scores 19 —16. McKenzie evened up on the19th head and also scored 1 on the 20th, the scores being McKenzie 20 and Thurston 19. The last head added one to McKenzie’s score, so that the challengers Avon by 21 —19. Afternoon tea was provided in thepavilion for players and friends by Mrs; R. W. Smith. ' The new holders have already been challenged for the Feathers and the game probably take place on Thursday next.
