LONDON PRODUCE MARKETS. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. The High Commissioner's market report, dated London March 18, is as fellows:—Quotations, unless otherwise specified, ar e average market prices on spot. Frozen Meat.—The market remains firm fer all descriptions of frozen meat, and the supply falls short of the demand. Home killed is in moderate supply, and is selling at higher prices. Mutton—Other brands than Canterbury, 7gd per lb (quotations are nominal); ewes, 7id. Lamb Canterbury, 84d; any weight other than Canterbury, last season's, BJd, this season's, 82d. Beef—New Zealand cow, hinds 6£d, fores there is only a small quantity at market. No chilled beef is offering at market. Butter—The market is quiet but firm. Danish (quiet) per cwt 180/to 182/-; New Zealand (market steady, with little alteration in prices), 162/ to 164/-, ditto unsalted 162/- to 166/, fair to good quality 150/ to 158/. Argentine (firm market), 148/- to 150/-: Australian (market remains firm), 156/ to 158/; Siberian, 126/ to 134/. Cheese. —The market is firm and prices continue! to advance. Canadian (stock small) per cwt, 105/ to 106/, fine 103/ to 104/; New Zealand (holders firm), white 102/ to 103/, coloured 103/ to 104/; United States (fair demand) 100/ to 102/, fine 98/; English Cheddar, 112/ to 114/; Cheshire, 120/ to 122/. Hemp—The market opened weak, but is now steadier. It has been unfavourably affected by heavy Manila, shipments during February to England of 62,0-00 bales, compared with 9000 bales during January. Manila new graded fair £56 10/ on spot; April-June shipment Manila new graded fair £55; New Zealand good fair £46 5/. March to May shipment fair £44 5/. Fair in dock sold during the week at £46. The output of Manila for the week ended March 18 was 27,000 bales.
-pons— The market is very quiet. English per cwt. 140/ to 150/; Calif ornian, 95/ to 115/. Wheat —The market is wesk. Aus-f-»"alian en t>py ouster, 67/6: Argentine afloat, 68/6. These prices are nominal, and much over value. Canadian has declined sharply. First grade Manitoba arrived sold at 62/. Oats—Dull market at last quotations. LONDON WOOL SALES. The wool sales closed firm at the 'ower prices established. After there had been a 10 per cent drop prices recovered slightly. Presnt quotations ar lid to 2d below closing rates of last for medium and coarser sorts. Finest grades about maintain old prices. Eisrht thousand bales have been taken for export to the Continent T>, j<ssia and America are not operating. Estimated values are as follows: —Superior merinos. 1/7 to 1/9; medium serine. 1/4 to 1/6; inferior merinos, l/i. t/3: fine (voKsbred*, all grades. 1/8 to 1/10; medium crossbreds, all grades, 1/6 to 1/8; coarse crossbreds, all grades, 1/4 to 1/6. Future prospects are good at these lower prices. Three thousand five hundred bales of New Zealand wool were held over.
