HIBERNIAN SPORTS.
A SUCCESSFUL Yesterday the Taihape Hibernian Sports' Club held their fifth annual sports on the Taihape Recreation ground 'and despite the Wtyn the day proved very successful. This year the whole of the net proceeds from the sports are to be devoted io the fund for establishing a Returned Soldiers' Club here and it was anticipated that there Avould be a large 'attendance of the public. Unfortunately rain fell at midday and although not heavy it was sufficient to damp the 'ardour of the less enthusiastic. The sports, however, went on and the attendancemilder the circumstances wajs goiod. The national colours were much in evidence as usual on St. Patrick's Day and th e day passed off well. All the officials worked hard to ensure success and deserve every credit for the prompt starting of the various events, which wer e all got off to time.
The luncheon 'and afternoon tea booth was run by ladies for the Red Cross Funds, and there was also a produce stall, fair business being; done.
