UPPER WANGAEHU ROAD BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING.

The monthly meeting of the Upper Wangaehu Bead Board was held yesterday, when there were present:— Messrs. H. Collier (chairman) D. Addis, P. McHardy, P. Pedersen, and T W. Williams.

It was decided to notify all ratepayers owing rates that these must be paid within seven days.

It was resolved to call for tenders for the metalling of the road from McGregor’s woolshed to th e next bend. On the motion of Mr. Williams, seconded by Mr. Pedersen, the chairman was authorised to sign the plan for the dedication of th e road to O’Brien’s section.

A letter was received from Mr. J. H. Garmonsway and others, pointing out that the two roads leading from Mataroa township to the Hautapu River were fenced across. These roads would be very handy to take stock fjr watering and they would like Board to have the fences removed. — On the motion of Mr. Collier, seconded by Mr. Williams, it was resolved to instruct the foreman to open all the roads to the township and to give the owners of the fences 24 hours’ notice. The foreman urns instructed to fence in the spring opposite the Mataroa store, and put i:i a watgr trough.

The foreman (Mr. 11. .1. Titter) reported that ho h id inspected the whore of the roads and most of them w anted doing up for tit 3 winter. Jle had had a few points taken oft the Pengaroa Hoad and a filling had been put ni at the junction with the main road at Opana. He was inw patting in six new culvcirts on the Taraigarere road. Mr, Padding was making good progress with the shellroek carting. lie had had the points widened three or four feet where the rock had been pat on. It needed a man about Hihitahi for about a month as the Toad was getting in a bad state in parts. The lower oneof the Turakina Valley, where It joined the Eangitikei County boundary, also needed to be put in repair as the County Council was putting its rood in order. The small grad dr had come to hand but he had not yet given it ■ fair trial. i The report was adopted.
