BRITISH MAKE AN ADVANCE.

The Press Bureau notices: General Lak e reports that General Aylmer advanced on Monday to the right bank of the Tigris and reached Essi'm, seven miles east of Kut el Amara. He attacked on "Wednesday, but was unable to disl|odge the enemy, who suffered very severely. Beyond strengthening their position, the enemy did not show activity. Our casualties were: slight.
