WELLINGTON LAND BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Wellington District Land Board was held yesterday. There were present: Mr G. H. M. McGlur e(Commissioner of Crown Lands), 'n the chair, and Messrs J. Dawson, J. Georgetti, and C Mclntyre.
APPLICATIONS 70R LAND. The following applications for land were granted.—Section 60, block 5, Karioi, 6 acres, 0.R.P., Adam Oliver, annual rent £4. Section 61, block 5, Karioi, 6 seres, 0.R.P., George Morgan .annual rent £4. Section 6, block 13, Wilford Settlement, 15.9 perches, JL.S.D.P., Olive E. Toon, price £67. Section 34, Pohonui village, lr lp, tern. porary permit, Walter Wright, annual rent 4s from January Ist. Section 13 and strip, h'ock 22, Ohakune township, 3 roods, temporary permit, Peter Rogel; annual rent £1 15s from March Ist. Block 12, Kaitieke, 2 acres, temporary permit, W. M. TRANSFERS. The following transfers were approved:—Timber, on part section 3, block 8, Maungaklvretu-Turangarere Sawmilling Company to F. W. H. Luers. MISCELLANEOUS. Thomas Butler, who holds a grazing license over sections 7,8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and 14, block 15, town of Horopito West, applied for a permit to split firewood and posts, thereon, and it was resolved to grunt it free of payment of royalty. R. H. Coker applied for a lease of section 3, block 22, Ohakime township, as a paddock for horses. —It was resolved to decline his application. The Commissioner having reported that section 3, block 14, Kaitieke, 15 acres 3 roods, is now available for disposal, it was resolved to offer for
sale by public auction, for cash, at a
price to be fixed by the ranger
With reference to the board's resolution of December 22nd, granting a permit to occupy cottage on sections 2 and 3, block 8, Ohakune township, at a rent of five shillings per week from December Ist, 1915, it was re'solved to rescind the former resolution, and to allow Mr. Bellsop to occupy same rent free, provided he keeps the cottage in a reasonable state of repair. Patrick Sheahon applied for permit to occupy sections 8,9, and 10, block 1., Horopito West Town, 0a 3r Op., and it was resolved to grant it from year to year at a rent of £1 10s per annum, subejet to the usual conditions. The proposals of the Rangataua Town Beard and the Rankitikei County Council re the expenditure of "thirds" accrued to September 30th last were approved, with exception of'sum cf 13s desired to be hypothecated by Rangitikei County Council; special application to be made for certificate of hypothecation. The Official Assignee in bankruptcy cf estate of Walter Thorp requested that section 3,. block 7, Hunua S.D. be included in the proposed Te Maire special roading district.—Approved.
It was resolved to offer for cash by public auction the under-mentioned lets at late upset prices:—Town of Ohakune, block 20, sections 23, 33, 35, 36; blcck 21, sections 2,3, 18, 20; block 22, section 3. (Sections 2,3, 18, 20. block 21, to be subject to an easement 20 feet wide for electric lighting flume). It was resolved to offer for cash by public auction the following sections at late upset prices:—Sections 2 and 3, block 3, Waimarino township.
The arrest lias been effected, under the Defence of the Realm Act, of the ex-German Consul in Auckland, Mr. Carl Seegner, and his former private secretary, Mr. Lothar Eilander. Both have baen interned as prisoners of Avar, and are at present under detention at the fort at North Head.
