HURN CUP. .ST. JOHN'S BEAT TAIEA|PJfi. Yesterday a match was played between teams representing Taihape and St. John's Clubs, the latter winning by 26 to 1!). The teams were: ■ — St. John's: Gtdlatly, Laughton, Scrivener, Gordon (3): Tai-hapc: Drayton, Evans, Xeagl?, Wrightson (s). St. John's won the toss and lead. First Head. —Drayton scored 1 off Gellatly, Laughton shifted the jack but failed to score. Scrivener then drew the shot, and the skips finished with no change. St. John's 1. Taihape 0.
Second Head.'—Gellatly lay wiffc both bowls. Evans changed their lay two, Xeagle added another, Ooulen reduced this to one. I—l. Third Head.—Result -d in three for Taihape. I—4.1 —4. Fourth Head.—Drayton lay witli oneclose to the kitty, the second effected no change. Neagle aided two Gordon with his first bowl carried tji" kitty to the ditch, and lay one. 2— 4. Fifth Head. Dr.iyron ?ay one, Evans added another, Wrightson with his last bowl shifted one of Drayton's, but lay himself. 2—fi. Sixth Head. Gellatly lay one; Evans, with two fine.,shots, changed this and lay two. Scrivener then drew the second shot. Th c skips effected
no change. 2—7. Seventh Head. Gellatly lay two, Laughton drew another; Evans thjm lay with his second howl; Neagle lay another, but Gordon with his hist just boat cvans and lay the shot. 3' —7. Eighth Head. Eeul'ted in one for St. .Toli n's. 4—7. Ninth Head. Gellatly lay one, Scrivener added another with a toucher, Gordon pushed in a third with his last shot. 7 —7. Tenth Head. Resulted in placing St. John's in th 0 lead. S—7. Eleventh Head. Gellatly lead with a toucher, but Drayton beat him and lay the "shot. Gellatly drew again. Drayton again beat him with a touch' er. laying one. Laughton pushed Drayton out and lay with a toucher. Neagleand Scrivener effected no change. Wrightson drove with his first bowl, which added another to his opponent's score. Gordon drew another with .his last shot. 11—7.
TVelvth Head.' —A long head,- several bowls finding the ditch, finished one, to St. John \s. 12—7. It. Thirteenth Head. Drayton lay*' with a touch. Evans added another. Scrivener, however, reversed, then Gordon ran the kitty and finished up with five. 17—7. Fourteenth Head. Evans secured the shot for Taihape, Neagle adding two. Skips effected no change. 17—10. Fifteenth Head. Drayton played two fine shots and lay with both. Laughton with his second drew the shot: Scrivener touched one of Drayton's and pushed it in but with his second liay the shot. Wrightson then pushed Scrivener not and lay, and with his second s?iotr took out St. John's nearest bowl rnid lay six. Giordon failed to alter the score. 17 —1(3. Sixteenth Head. Resulted in four fee St. John's. 21—16.
Seventeenth Head. Taihape lay one when the ships went down, Gordon reversing this Avith his last howl. 22—16.
Eighteenth Head. A very long •head. Both Gellatly's bowls and one of Drayton's found the ditch. Evans and Neagle both added another to the score. Gordon shifting the kitry reduced to two. 22—18. Nineteenth Head. • Resulted one for St. John's. 23—19. -;t Twentieth Head. When the skips' went down St. John's lay one. Wrightson succeeded in pushing tie kitty on to Drayton's bowl and lay one. 23—19. Twenty-first Head. St. John's secured three more. 26—19.
