A TERRIBLE WOMAN.
After a tall, stylishly dressed woman had been fined at Bow Street Police Court, London, for being drunk, 'a man at the back of the Court came forward and told the Magistrate that he wished to make an application re-
specting her. Mr Hopkins: What is the nature of
your application? The applicant: That woman is my housekeeper. I want you to bind her over for 12 months. The late Sir Henry Curtis Bennett once did so, and it did her a lot of good. I am sorry to say she goes out and gets drunk. When she comes .back she , threatens me with knives, revolvers, j 'and explosives. She is most difficult to manage.
* When one has a housekeeper that | one does not want, said the Magistrate, one knows how to get rid of her. j The applicant: You could not get rid of this one. You may get her out- \ side the door, but she always gets in ■again. The Magistrate: I must leave you | to manage your own affairs.
